Closing of the Bones Ceremony

"Cerrar la Cadera"

The Closing of the Bones Ceremony is a sacred tradition of gathering a woman back to herself after birth — body, mind, and soul.

Throughout pregnancy and childbirth, a woman opens deeply. Her organs, her bones, her heart… her entire being stretches wide, and she too is born. The Closing of the Bones is a moment for the mother and her body to be embraced. With herbal waters (temazcales), warm oils, rebozos, healing touch, and song, it is a prayerful time of restoration.

Rooted in the traditional postpartum care of Mexican midwives — where warmth, rest, and prayer have long been central to healing — this ceremony carries the echoes of ancestral wisdom blended with faith and grace. It honors the sacred postpartum period known as la cuarentena, a time of renewal and protection for the mother's body and spirit.

Care by Corrin's Ceremony draws inspiration from these traditional practices. It is an act of worship, a return to rest, and a reminder that the mother was never meant to heal alone. Every layer symbolizes the way God lovingly gathers and covers His daughters. Each touch and every wrap is a reminder that she is clothed in strength and dignity, anointed with oil, and renewed from within.

While it is most ideal to receive this ceremony after the first 40 days postpartum (la cuarentena), there is no time limit to the comfort it carries. Many women who did not receive this early postpartum find it deeply healing — physically, emotionally, and spiritually — even years after their last pregnancy.

Just as He binds every wound, this ceremony becomes a reflection of His tenderness — a physical prayer that whispers, "You are safe now. You can rest."

In this space, the woman is reminded that her body is holy, strong, and beautiful.
